Second Annual Developer Conference Will Explore the Essence of Development for Web and Mobile Technology
SAN FRANCISCO – June 12, 2014 – Engine Yard, the leading cloud application management platform, will bring together individuals who are at the forefront of creating and building web and mobile technology at its second annual Distill developer conference, August 7-8 in San Francisco. At this two-day event, more than 30 speakers, including top developers and industry thought leaders, will gather for interactive discussions about what the future holds for software development methods, innovative hardware platforms, data and analytics, as well as how to leverage unique solutions to address common development challenges.
“Distill 2014 has an amazing lineup of speakers who will talk about their experiences developing new ideas for the web and mobile,” said Eamon Leonard, vice president, Developer Relations at Engine Yard and master of ceremonies at Distill. “These industry leaders will join us for two days of exploration and discussion about how we can use the cloud, mobile, wearables, robotics and more, to create new products and design the technology we’ll use in our daily lives.”
Keynote speakers include:
- Ben Huh – founder and CEO of Cheezburger and the man who brought cats on the Internet and memes to the mainstream
- Harper Reed – CEO of Modest, Inc. and former CTO for President Barack Obama's 2012 campaign
- Dylan Richard – CTO of Modest, Inc. and former director of Engineering for President Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign
- Danae Ringlemann – founder and chief development officer at Indiegogo
- Steve Souders – chief performance engineer at Fastly and former head performance engineer at Google
Speakers were selected by a panel of Engine Yard team members with diverse professional and personal backgrounds. After being reviewed in a blind first round (only the abstract was read and all names and gender identifiers were removed), 32 talks moved on to the final round of selected speakers. Last year, the inaugural Distill conference attracted more than 200 attendees, of which approximately one-third were Engine Yard customers. By hosting Distill, Engine Yard offers its customers a unique chance to hear from the leading voices in development and the cloud, interact with the company’s employees and network with their peers in an intimate environment.
"The Distill conference exceeded my expectations with a mix of thought provoking and educational speakers, diverse attendees and a great overall experience,” said Chris Bailey, chief architect at Hotel Tonight.
"Distill 2013 was hands down the best conference I’ve attended," said Tom Sommer, software engineer at Redbubble. "There were a great variety of talks, awesome organization and a mind-blowing experience. I can’t wait for Distill 2014 to kick off."
